As distant students, you are usually charged for a student ID card and a student services fee – a portion of which is paid to OPSA to provide relevant services. access for 2016 handbook here: 2016-Distance-Students-Handbook.pdf
OPSA can post out your student ID-card to distance-students. E-mail a digital passport-style photo of yourself to OPSA’s ID email. Make sure you include your name (and ideally your student number), and the address you’d like the ID sent to.
Advocacy & Help
Got problems? OPSA is here to help. OPSA is your advocate and is here provide you with help or information on issues relating to study, grades, teachers, marking, complaints, student discipline, landlords and more. We can be e-mailed or called toll-free from in New Zealand (0800-762-786 – ask for OPSA).
Check out the list of Student Discounts arranged by students’ association which are available to you with your OPSA/OP student ID-card. Please note we are currently expanding the number of discounts outside of Otago - please let as know about any students discounts in your area.

OPSA has representatives on various Polytechnic boards and committees and regularly meets with management. If you have any concerns or views you wish conveyed as a distance student please do not hesitate to let OPSA know.
